 Cultural Competence Sharing and Reflection [WLO: 1] [CLOs: 1, 2, 3, 4]
Throughout this course you have learned about concepts that contribute to the creation of culturally responsive environments that support the learning and development of children and their families. For this discussion, you will reflect on the main components of cultural competence: culturally relevant methods, anti-bias curriculum, diverse family structures, and multicultural education.
Before you begin your discussion, review the Diversity, Equity, and Cultural Competence (Links to an external site.) resource, which provides links to information and resources that break down and operationalize the concept of cultural competence in ways that may support your thinking on cultural competence and its various components.
Address the bulleted items below for each of the following components of cultural competence: culturally relevant methods, anti-bias curriculum, diverse family structures, and multicultural education.

Summarize the main concepts of the component.
Defend why the component is important to you as an early childhood professional.

As an early childhood development professional, it is very important to stay abreast of quality practices and current research in the field so that you can create the highest quality learning experiences for children and families. For this discussion, locate a scholarly article from the Ashford University Library focused on culturally relevant methods, anti-bias curriculum, diverse family structures, or multicultural education. Analyze what you have learned based on your research, addressing the following:

Briefly summarize the information in and the main point of your article.
Analyze the meaning and significance of what you have learned based your research.
Explain how the research findings translate into real-world application.
Explain how knowledge from this article will impact you in your early childhood professional role.
Assess how your chosen topic is connected to the other themes that make up overall cultural competence.
