There are many issues that that the victims’ movement still needs to address. In your opinion, of the issues discussed in the final audio lecture, which is the single most important issue on which the movement should focus? Explain your choice and provide support for your view.

Victimology
Criminology is a wide field that involves criminal justice practices and theories supporting the ideas. Some victims of crimes are given much attention compared to others, therefore, it is an issue. Victimology is a part of criminology that evaluates crimes concentrating more on the impacts of crime on the victim. The paper discusses issues of victimology being a movement and not a discipline.
Interest in crime victims rose in Europe with the primary aim of understanding the relationship of the crime victim. The United States became more concerned about victimology after Scholar Stephens bool about the victims and his criminal which has been of interest by many criminologists in the study of crime victim’s behaviors concerning the crime. In 1966 after world war 11, the crime led to the development of the administration of justice and the law enforcement system.
The most important issue about the victim of crime movement includes the upgrade of the victim of crime initiative from a movement to a discipline. A discipline concentrates on professionalism while a movement concentrates more on programs,education, and awareness. Changing the field to discipline will enhance the development of victimology into a field of study. A movement is considered wider and includes bigger goals and objectives. The criminal justice system requires more specialists in victimology to support and fight for victim’s rights. Victimologists are less in number and therefore the field is not well represented because most law schools do not advertise and create awareness about this field of study. Making victims of crime movement a discipline would encourage more people to pursue the field, therefore, increasing more victim reports.
Victimology requires more explanation and definition of victims of crime where most victims are not considered while others are more considered. Victims such as rape victims and victims of gender-based violence are not considered compared to victims of natural disasters and national homicides. For instance, victims of terrorism and victims of homicides are given much attention while victims of rape are given less attention and less follow up.
Cybercrime is a global issue that has affected most individuals including big companies. Victims of cybercrimes are not given much attention and are not recognized as victims. Cyberbullying is a case that affects most individuals where most of them go through post-trauma which requires more attention. Other cybercrimes include loss of finances and properties which affects the victim leading to cases of depression and suicide.
Criminals are also victims of particular crimes. For instance, society considers immoral acts such as prostitution is lawful. Sex workers are given less attention while most of them go through traumatic events such as rape and violence from most clients. Such individuals require much attention and follow-up. Making victimology a discipline would increase victimologists working in various fields where for instance in the field of cybersecurity and so on which would reduce cases of neglection especially the cybercrime victims as well as sex workers.
Since nineteenth century to date, the movement now focuses on how trauma affects victims of crimes for instance victims of terrorism who experience long-term traumas such as post-trauma stress disorder. Basic strategies such as counseling use approach such as structured ventilation to enable crime victims to manage and organize their thoughts especially victims of terrorism.
Consequently, victimology needs more attention from the criminal justice system where the field requires great transformation especially from being a movement to a discipline. Making victims of crime movement a discipline would attract more individuals to specialize in the field bringing detailed definitions on who are considered to be victims of crime.
