Transcultural Nursing
Transcultural Nursing: This course centers on the cultural response to health and illness as they influence individuals and families. Topics covered in this course include current issues and problems, health care beliefs, a comparative analysis of communication, as well as practices of different cultural norms and how they affect clinics and the nursing profession.
Introduction to Microbiology: In this course, you will be introduced to microbiology that emphasizes the effect of microorganisms on the human body. Topics include microbial cell structure, function and metabolism, requirements for and control of growth, genetics, mutations, and biotechnology, and a survey of bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi, protozoa and helminthes.
Public Health and Community Nursing: You will learn several concepts and theories related to public health and community nursing. Topics covered in this course are health promotion and prevention, community assessment, core functions and essentials of public health, as well as the ability to meet diverse clients’ need in unique settings.
Comprehensive Pharmacology Lab: In this course you will learn how to administer medications. You will also be taught the “six rights of administration,” how to calculate prescription dosage, proper use and storage of medications, as well as correct tactics in patient observation and documentation. In the nursing lab you will learn clinical skills.
Dimensions of Professional Nursing: This is a course that will give you the tools you need to transition from a RN to a BSN student. You will learn about nursing theory, philosophy and roles, which is aimed at expanding the scope of responsibility of nursing.
