Introduction
The interrelationship between evidence-based practice, research, knowledge, and theory are essential in improving care. Theories guide research studies to derive the knowledge necessary to support evidence-based tasks (Fawcett & Garity, 2016). Fawcett and Garity describe the interrelationship as a tool that improves patient care.
Fawcett and Garity
My comprehension of the interrelationships between the various concepts is comparable to Fawcett and Garity’s argument. For instance, I uphold the argument that the finest existing evidence impacts the nursing field (Mohammadi, 2016). Reliable research findings, systematic reviews, and peer reviews generate the best available evidence. I support Fawcett and Garity’s argument that nursing practice should employ the best available evidence to improve patient outcomes (Fawcett & Garity, 2016). For example, the nursing practice moved from triple aim to quadruple aim to improve the welfare of the care team. I concur with the Fawcett and Garity’s idea that healthcare requires continuous improvement through evidence-based practice derived from research.
Interrelationships
Fawcett and Garity argue that nursing practice relies on the best available evidence to improve patient outcomes. Reliable research findings and peer reviews generate the best evidence (Fawcett & Garity, 2016). The research is important in building the body of knowledge. The body of knowledge comprises of theories that guide research findings (Morténius et al., 2016). The interrelationship is important in guiding evidence-based assignments. It provides the best and current practices necessary to understand patient’s conditions and provide treatment.
Conclusion
Nursing practices evolve daily, requiring clinicians to apply best and current knowledge to provide treatment. Clinicians utilize theory to carry out research that generates the best available evidence. Healthcare workers also use the available evidence to improve patient outcomes. The nursing sector requires evidence-based practice to regularly improve the quality of care and tackle emerging health issues among patients of different ages, ethnicity, gender or backgrounds.
