In the Argument Project, we have continued to explore these social and political questions. What are the limits of comedy? Should comedy concern itself with political correctness? Or should comedy be protected by free speech? How do we draw that line? Considering these questions, we ask you to weigh in with an argument of your own. Do you think comedy should be censored, particularly on college campuses? If so, what are the implications for college campuses if they insist on political correctness? Or, if they permit absolute free speech? Minimum of 4 sources; 2-3 sources should be from 4B and at least 1 source should be from AWP 4A.
A successful essay will focus on a question or problem that is neither too big nor too small; it will frame that question or problem within the conversation constituted by the course readings; it will offer a clear claim as a way of entering the conversation; it will support that claim with good evidence from the course readings; and it will accomplish all of this following the principles of good paragraphs and sentences. A successful essay will also develop its argument by engaging the opposing view. 4-5 pages.
