Teachers’ leader assumes critical roles and responsibilities in the lives of learners in the classroom. The overall role of a teacher is to impart knowledge and skills to the learners. To achieve this role, a teacher should have extensive knowledge and a thorough mastery of content in their respective area of specialization. These roles can be allocated officially or informally purposely to build capacity for success. Since teachers can play varied roles, several teachers can assume the responsibility of being a leader among their colleagues. Therefore, there are a number of leadership choices available for teachers to enhance the success of the schools. One of the important roles of a teacher leader is to help other trainers in the implementation of the curriculum. A tutor leader who is a curriculum expert understands various stages and standards of curriculum and how each element integrates (Blase, & Blase, 2016). Thorough knowledge of the curriculum enhances the development of assessment tools (both candidate and assessor tool) and preparation of relevant instructional materials. Therefore, the trainer leader guides other peers to accept the developed curriculum and agree on the standards set.
The second important role that teacher leaders play in the school environment is to ensure continues change and improvement. Teacher leaders always champion for new better procedures of doing things so that the school or community can break from the status quo. As a catalyst for change, the tutor leader shows unceasing commitment to ensure improved accomplishment. Changes in a school set up need somebody who is aggressive, visionary and shares with the colleagues to break the culture that would have decline the academic performance. Therefore, teacher leader strongly advises other trainers to boost their instructions methods and resources to improve attainments and personal engagement with the learner (Killion, 2012). Teacher leader team up with coworkers, community, students, and parents to instigate positive change. Lack of current teaching methodology is a great hindrance to effective instruction. Hence, the teacher must go above normal teaching responsibilities and engage in current research to come up with efficient instructional methods and learning resources.
Another significant responsibility of a teacher leader to support classroom learning by helping other teachers implements new instruction techniques, joining the class and give feedback, and teaching colleagues before the lesson. This assistance may be very beneficial to the teacher since it heightens self-sufficiency, confidence, and enhances trainers to solve instructional problems. Enabling professional learning among staff members and being a role model for all is an important responsibility of a teacher.
The roles of the teacher leader have significant implications for future practice as a teacher. The future teachers will be required to have a variety of skills to equip learners and help staff members develop competencies. In the future, the trainer will be required to have robust mastery of subject content. It will also change the normal role of a teacher to emphasize tutor being a facilitator. It will also call for a future trainer to be a role model and a mentor to motivate the student to perform maximally in both academic and outdoor activities (Killion, 2012). Social skills are also paramount to help work as a group, the capability to communicate with people within and outside the organization. The role of a teacher leader will also require future tutors to use advanced technology in research and data analysis to develop an effective teaching strategy.

To conclude, teachers play critical roles in the classroom but the major responsibility is to inculcate knowledge, skills, attitude, and values to the learner. The trainer goes above the major responsibility assigned to become a teacher leader. A teacher leader is charged with the responsibility of guiding other staff in implementing the curriculum as a specialist in the curriculum. Another main role of the leader is the catalyst of change, support other colleagues deliver effectively, and provide learning resources, a role model to all, and enhancing staff development through professional learning.
