4. What plan do you propose to better the American education system? How would you respond to people who disagree with you?

Some important things to note for ALL topics:

WARNING: A major important factor of this assignment is AVOIDING PLAGIARISM. You do not want to just paraphrase things that your historical figure has said in their own letters or speeches. Instead, read about your figure, read their work or speeches or papers or letters, and then you may want to just take notes and put the original documents away, so you don’t end up copying what they already said. Or think of it this way: imagine that your audience is already familiar with your historical figure’s work, including speeches, letters, etc. They have some idea of your figure’s views, but you still need to work to convince them of those ideals. You don’t want to just repeat what your figure has said before, but you need to think of a different way to make your case. AGAIN, don’t look at actual speeches from your person while writing your speech. This will help you to present their ideas in a different way.

WARNING, PART II: You’re going to be playing a role here, and that means that you may not agree with all of the views of your historical figure, and that’s okay. This is a good way for you to see how these kinds of arguments were made throughout the history of our nation and the impact they had on the American people. So you might have to say stuff in your speech that you don’t agree with, because that’s what your historical figure would have said. However, with that said, you don’t want to go too far – please no inappropriate or offensive language, even if your historical figure was rude and cursed like a sailor.
