Reflective Essay #3 Social Justice/Ethics“Social Justice
Reflective Essay #3 Social Justice/Ethics“Social Justice is a form of justice that engages in social criticism and social change (ANA, Code of Ethics, 2015, p. 64). The ANA Code of Ethics clearly links social justice with health policy through analysis, critique, change in social structures, policies, laws, customs, power and privilege that disadvantage or harm vulnerable groups through marginalization, exclusion, exploitation, and voicelessness” (Fawcett, 2019, p. 251).Students are encouraged to examine current events, and consider the Luiselli book, through the eyes of different ideologies and compare attitudes as they influence health distribution and practices. Students will find the Luiselli book helpful in finding context to apply the concepts of social justice with vulnerable populations. Relate how as a community member, nurse, or nursing student, current events affect our attitudes, behaviors, and professional practice. Students may find it helpful to relate this reflection to concepts learned in NURS 402, weeks 1 through 4.
