OCCUPATION SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTARTION
The four main parts of OSHA’s recommended worksite analysis program for ergonomics include information sources, periodic ergonomics survey, ergonomic job hazard analysis, and the screening surveys (Larson, & Ellexson, 2000). The information sources involve gathering information from the available and reliable sources. ). The information source provides details of any risk hazard or potential risk hazard which needs immediate attention. Periodic survey should be conducted at least annually to determine new or previously unnoticed risk hazards and to evaluate the effects of change in the work processes.
The job analysis provides potential risk factors towards the employees (Dedobbeleer, & Béland, 1991. The screening survey is involved in determining if the risk factor for a work position has been completely removed or minimized. The ergonomic job hazard analysis provides results of such analysis to healthcare.
In worksite analysis, there is identification of potential hazards so that they may be corrected. Making a business case is one of the components of worksite analysis. In additional, there is the analyzing of the jobs identified in the data gathering process incase risk factors are present (Larson, & Ellexson, 2000). The factors include primary and secondary risk factors. Individual jobs are also analyzed with the help of checklist and other forms in order to determine the level of risk present that may need to be controlled. Furthermore, the checklist helps in identifying any opportunities available for improvements. Worksite analysis also includes close observation and tracking of injury and illness records to identify patterns of strains.
