Nursing practice advocacy entails, self-actualization

Write a reply to this Post
In nursing, advocacy means helping other people grow to the point where they are fully themselves. As advocates, nurses are responsible for making sure people know their rights and get the information they need to make good decisions. Nurses have to speak up for themselves, their coworkers, their clients, and their profession (Kerley et al., 2022).
In nursing, advocacy means protecting and defending one’s own and other people’s beliefs (Kerley et al., 2022). Nursing practice says that patients should be able to make their own decisions about how to best meet their health goals (Scott et al.,2021). Patients should be able to get the information they need to make choices and decisions that are best for them.
Nurses have the right to have their own values and use those values to help them make the right decisions about health. Nurses are required to speak up for patients who are unable to do so for themselves (Abbasinia et al., 2020). Nurses act as advocates for others by directly helping them. They work for social justice, help patients make informed decisions, and act as mediators in the environment (Scott et al., 2021).
As a nurse, I’ve given patients important information about how to deal with their health problems and improve their quality of life (Abbasinia et al., 2020). I told patients getting chemotherapy how to get their anti-nausea medicine and how to take it most effectively. I’ve been able to protect patients’ rights and wishes by telling them how they can be protected effectively (Abbasinia et al., 2020). During this process, patients’ rights and choices about their health were respected.
