Your quest to purchase a new car begins with an identification of the factors important to you. As you conduct a search of cars that rate high on those factors, you collect evidence and try to understand the extent of that evidence. A report that suggests a certain make and model of automobile has high mileage is encouraging. But who produced that report? How valid is it? How was the data collected, and what was the sample size?
In this Assignment, you will delve deeper into clinical inquiry by closely examining your PICO(T) question. You also begin to analyze the evidence you have collected.
To Prepare:
Review the Resources and identify a clinical issue of interest that can form the basis of a clinical inquiry.
Develop a PICO(T) question to address the clinical issue of interest for the Assignment.
Use the key words from the PICO(T) question you developed and search at least four different databases in the Walden Library to identify at least four relevant peer-reviewed articles at the systematic-reviews level related to your research question.
Reflect on the process of creating a PICO(T) question and searching for peer-reviewed research.

PICO (T) is a clinical framework that is used to derive clinical questions to facilitate the search for an answer. PICO (T) is a mnemonic which stands for P–Patient/Problem, I—Intervention, C—Comparison, O—Outcome and T- Time (Elias, Polancich, Jones & Convoy, 2015). In this case, the clinical issue under investigation is the treatment of type 2 diabetes for patients using either bariatric surgery or medical therapy. The purpose of using the two methods is to increase the probability of remission of diabetes. The obesity treatment is being carried out among diabetic patients. Therefore, the PICO (T) framework is used to compare the effectiveness of the best strategy. Therefore, it is a crucial framework that simplifies nursing tasks and helps them to identify a problem and its respective interventions, the expected outcomes, the duration and comparisons available in the research.
Research Database
The search for peer-reviewed nursing articles involved various research databases. The various databases include PubMed, CINAHL Plus, Nursing Reference Center Plus, and Child Care & Early Education Research Connections. The databases publish only peer-reviewed nursing papers making it easy for nurses to refer to them with confidence (Chu et al., 2017). Additionally, they contain peer-reviewed articles from different fields in nursing such as diabetes and obesity. They also provide systematic reviews which have a high level of evidence. They are thus reliable while carrying out research or seeking an answer for a PICO (T) question. The reason is that they also have high levels of research evidence, which gives a researcher an upper hand while carrying out research.

Levels of Evidence
The levels of evidence or hierarchy of evidence are used to measure the strength of recommendation attached to a research study. For example, a study with a high level of evidence can be recommended for use by nurses in the treatment of obesity or diabetes. However, if the level of recommendation is low, it means the findings cannot be relied on to make informed decisions. The studies selected have high levels of evidence since they comprise of expert opinions from people in high authority (Adab et al., 2018). They also have systematic reviews which are used to reduce the level of bias and thus provide expert opinions on a topic. Additionally, they have control trials which are used to measure the level of evidence. When nurses are evaluating research studies, they focus on systematic reviews whose conclusions can be used to develop policies in the treatment of patients suffering from obesity or diabetes.

Systematic reviews are essential in the field of nursing. The reason is that they provide reliable conclusions compared to a single study. Reliable conclusions are free from bias or personal opinions. The reason is that they provide expert opinions which can be used in the medical field to develop policies. Systematic reviews are also preferable since they provide a summary of the available research. They thus present a summary of all the available research studies (Abbade, Wang, Sriganesh, Mbuagbaw & Thabane, 2016). Additionally, they are used to provide new findings compared to carrying out an independent study. The systematic reviews are thus crucial in the nursing field since they strengthen research studies that have already been carried out.
Systematic reviews are essential to the nursing field as illustrated by Feng et al. (2017). The scholars identify 66 school-based interventions for obesity students. The 66 school-based interventions are essential since they have been summarized from the various studies synthesized through systematic reviews.
