The term “maritime industry” refers to any business or activity that takes place on the water, such as the transportation of goods and people (through ships), the import and export of goods via shipping services, and a variety of other activities that take place on the water. In the field of international relations, one of the most important and complex topics is maritime security. It is exceptional in that it goes well beyond merely ensuring the well-being of those on board ships and of those engaged in safe work practices. But despite the fact that a great number of countries have expressed alarm about the issue, there is still no agreement on what really constitutes maritime. This is due to the fact that maritime security does not refer to a single action or entity, but rather the link between a number of different problems that have an effect on the industry as a whole. These worries range from insufficient security at ports to the safety of individual travelers.
When we talk about maritime security, we are really discussing a wide variety of security challenges that are relevant to the marine industry as a whole. These worries could be related to the lack of cybersecurity on board ships, in which case the technology on board could be hacked in the same way that any other computer system on land could be.
These issues can be broken down into the following groups: national security, human security, the maritime environment, and the economic environment. The phrases “resilience,” “marine safety,” “sea power,” and “blue economy” are examples of some of the most important topics that fall under these four headings. For instance, marine safety involves climate change and accidents, whereas sea power focuses on the proliferation of weaponry and conflicts between states.
Attacks by terrorists on shipping, illegal transportation, offshore installations, and other illegal acts are some of the most significant dangers to maritime safety and security.

The creation of technical support systems, which includes the development of methods and strategies for identifying and investigating marine risks and accidents, is one of the approaches that is utilized in order to accomplish the goal of establishing maritime security in a number of different ways. At addition to that, maritime safety encourages programs for search and rescue in ports as well as activities focused on emergency situations.
