Intelligence Led Policing
This is the policing philosophy that is in line with the managerial operations of organizations. The policy identifies the offenders or those with repeated crimes, with the community collaboration they offer them opportunities to change. It also combines techniques for solving problems, sharing of information and the police duty with advanced intelligence operations. This ILP concept relates to fusion centers since they also identify criminal threats through data analysis. The information, expertise, and resources provided are used to detect, investigate, and prevent crimes or terrorist activities (LeCates, 2019).
During the data collection process sometimes the problem is not well clarified. Even though the information may expose the problem in a community it’s not enough. At times when detectives are transferred they carry the data with them, this may result in data discrepancy. Also sharing information from different departments may be challenging. This collection depends on the season thus choosing the appropriate time may affect the outcome a lot (Lambert, 2010).
Sources for the data used in the ILP are many from telephone wire tapes, electronic surveillance footage, and also the police department among others. These information’s help the police to arrest criminals and it also results in the successful execution of cases in courts. This may lead to well-planned investigations that aid in future cases from drug trafficking, gangs, motor theft, burglaries and also human trafficking. Hence leading to a reduction in future crime rate expectancy.
