Having let the red team penetrate the company network and bypass security measures, I have concluded that my organization has a weak coexisting physical security system that needs to be improved. While looking at the facilities and systems I would change, I will also consider how the employees in my organization will respond to the changes. To ensure that these changes are implemented well, I will dedicate myself towards supervising the entire transition and implementation of the new measures as well as serve an example in following the protocols and procedures to motivate the rest of the staff to follow suit.
To increase the physical infrastructural security in my organization, I would introduce a surveillance system around the premises (Shinder, 2007). An audit of the companies’ current infrastructure will allow us to keep track of all current company inventory. In addition to this, I will hire trained security personnel to monitor every movement in the organization at all times. I would also introduce Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology into high-level office entrances, safes, accounts offices, executive offices and server rooms to limit who gets in and out of particular areas in the organization (U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 2009). This system would ensure that without a card, you cannot pass the installed magnetic locks on secured areas without authentication.
To facilitate a smooth transition, I would also hire several security personnel to assist in showing the rest of the workers how to use their RFID’s. Additionally, ensure that people do not lose their cards; I would add straps so that they are wearable and sensitize employees through a MEMO on the importance of safeguarding their RFID cards and the reasons and significance of the new changes. When employees understand the reasons for the enhanced security protocols as well as how to use them, they can follow them better.
