Houston Methodist Information Technology

For this assignment we select a healthcare organization that we will use the rest of the semester and provide an overview of the organization and expand on their use and integration of health information systems. For this I would like to use Houston Methodist Hospital. After looking online, they appear to be pretty transparent about their information tech and organization goals and integration of technology. Also, it is local to me and I was born there. If in your research on this and preparing the paper you find a better hospital to use just message me and we can switch to one that has information more readily available. Thank you

Health care organizations have adopted health information technology to enhance healthcare operations and activities. In this respect, I wish to use Houston Methodist Hospital (HMH) in evaluating the integration of health care information system and its effects. I have a lot of attachment with Houston Methodist Hospital for it is in my locality and I was born in the facility. Health information system in different medical facilities is modeled to attain the integration of technology, the organizational goals as well as ensuring that patients are given appropriate services.
To begin with, HMH has been involved in developing and integrating its health information system to gain efficiency in all health operations (Houston Methodist Hospital, 2018).In this case, HMH has been involved in centralizing credentialing, insurance verification, supply chain transaction management, and time card management activities that have been integrated and developed in the interest of patients and medical practitioners. Equally important, the hospital has automated and integrated all rules-based business process. Therefore the patients and medical practitioners are able to operate virtually thus facilitating and managing all the hospital activities.
Consequently, Managing of the health system and integration of technology has a significant effect on the operations and affairs of the hospital (Ayal and Seidman, 2009). In this respect, the technology at the hospital has enhanced communication and interaction between the patients and medical practitioners. For instance, medical practitioners are able to conduct follow up activities on patients’ progress. Moreover, most work and operations are done virtually thus enabling health practitioners to devote a lot of time to serving patients thus giving quality services. Additionally, critical health information systems have been integrated such that one can follow it and interacting from their devices such as phones (Rudman et al., 2010). For instance, iPhone Health app enables patients and medical practitioners to interact as well and view their medical records.
In conclusion, Houston Methodist Hospital as effectively developed and integrated technology to enhance service delivery to the patients. Patients and medical practitioners have benefited from the integration of technology through effective and quality service delivery. The integrations of technology enable storage of health records as well as virtually initiating health processes.
