Organization Overview

The Mayo Clinic is a nonprofit organization, that serves many different specialties and departments such as a minority health and wellness programs, cancer preventions, transplants, brain ageing such as Alzheimer’s and memory disorders, community outreach programs and research. The Mayo Clinic services all patients no matter their race, sexual orientations, gender identity, disability status, military service, faith or culture.

Organization Regulations, Accreditation, and Standards
The Mayo Clinic follows strict federal and state regulations that consist of, Notice of Privacy Practices, which informs patients of their rights regarding their medical information, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) that will protect private medical information from being divulge without the patient’s consent. All are utilized in combination that allows the Mayo Clinic along with other entities to stay in compliance with the state, and federal regulatory guidelines and accreditations.

By abiding by federal and state regulation Risk management has advantages and some disadvantages. The advantages are to maintain the organization economic stability, increase the organizations transparency and protect the organization against fraud and /or illegal and unfair practices.
