The Relationship between Quadruple Aim and EBP
EBP relies significantly on the adoption and implementation of the available scientific evidence in the development of competent and effective decisions across the clinical setting. Such practices have mainly been applied within the contexts of management, nursing practice, and public policy implementation. The EBP approach facilitates the increased development of quality patient care through integrating the values of patients, the preferences, scientific studies. The quadruple aim entails the fundamental framework that facilitates the quality of care provided while also improving patient outcomes. As such, the quadruple aim forms the core concept of each healthcare facility based on the aspect of enhancing the lives being served by prioritizing patient satisfaction as well as the quality of care (Crabtree et al., 2016). The quadruple aim assists in the development of competent and valid measures of achieving these core concepts. Specifically, it explores the practices of reducing the predetermined healthcare costs as well as the patient experience undergoing care. Nonetheless, there exists a significant challenge based on the improvement of population health across the wider health sector while also containing the underlying costs. This is because such a situation requires a substantial measure of effectiveness and efficiency. For the effectiveness of the system, a productive and healthy workforce is inevitable.
Impact of EBP on the Factors Influencing the Quadruple Aim Elements
EBP is associated with various impacts on the factors influencing the quadruple aim elements that include the approach to healthcare delivery as well as the prevention of medical errors. The adoption and implementation of EBP are structured around the improvement of the quality of care while emphasizing on inpatient care across the respective clinical settings (Kim & Lee, 2016). On the other hand, EBP directly impacts the welfare of the healthcare professionals because for the patients to acquire high-quality services and treatment, the staff has to be highly productive. In this regard, each healthcare setting ought to ensure that the welfare of the patients, as well as that of the staff members, is improved and well-maintained for the efficiency and effectiveness of the quadruple aim and EBP.
The Impact of EBP in Helping to Reach the Quadruple Aim
EBP facilitates the active development and application of the quadruple aim goals. These goals include; population health, patient experience, employee welfare, and the applied costs. As for the patient experience, EBP provides findings necessary to the clinical practice whereby healthcare providers are in a position to utilize the available and acquired scientific knowledge based on the individual needs of a specific patient. In turn, the quality of services is relatively improved as well as the patient experiences. Based on the aspect of healthcare costs, the incorporation of all the expenditures into the per capita costs might be challenging. Other practices involved in such a process include indexing the costs to the system and measuring the actual costs involved. Being a challenge to provide quality care at lower costs, the healthcare institutions are obliged to implement EBP measures in the determination of effective technology to be applied, thereby improving efficiency.
On the other hand, the aspect of population health applies EBP to inform and educate members of the community on the limitations and benefits of specific treatments, personal health determinants, as well as cultural practices concerning healthcare. The EBP practices also provide a reliable platform for the equitable distribution of resources within the community that are geared towards addressing individual needs and not the transformation of healthcare patterns based on the predominant subgroups within the society. Finally, the aspect of healthcare providers’ welfare is structured around inter-professional collaboration. Based on the EBP findings, collaboration facilitates the increased satisfaction of care providers and patient outcomes. It also mitigates the turnover rates and burnout, thereby promoting productivity within the working environment.
