Globalization and How it Affects our Current World
Globalization is the integration of ideas, technology and information from various parts of the world so that there is interdependence among industries, people and businesses in the manner in which activities are conducted.
Globalization affects the world in a number of ways. For instance, it results into exchanges of information about latest developments in science and technology which contributes to development of countries where this technology did not exist before (Nuckolls 32). In addition, globalization has contributed to the capacity of businesses to cross borders and become more productive and competitive through improvement of the quality of goods and services they offer. Another way in which globalization affects the world is through establishment of a number of international subsidiaries of major companies. This has resulted into the benefit resulting from cheap labor in poor countries. The establishment of these industries in poor countries has resulted into urbanization of these countries and creation of jobs for the residents. Companies that have entered into global operations have become more productive and increased their competitive advantage and the quality of products and services they produce.
Globalization has also affected the world in the field of education where it has been easy to diffuse ideas from various parts of the world through the use of the internet and other modern forms of communication. For instance, it has contributed for ease in studies through the availability of online courses thus students can get international certifications such as international degrees without the need to travel internationally to attain these certifications. In addition, it has contributed to exchange of information among professionals in the areas of security, management and agriculture. Various organizations and people from other countries have been able to know the best methods of performing tasks in security, agriculture and management as a result of globalization of ideas.
Despite the arguments of the statement that globalization affects our world, there are arguments which do not agree with this statement and try to validate the argument that globalization does not affect the world. For instance, globalization has been associated with its contribution to the risk of spread of diseases which are easily transmitted during international transport activities between countries. A country that does not have a particular disease among its population is likely to be affected when people from partner countries visit the host country for various purposes such as business and tourism (Mancini 75). This case was observed recently during the outbreak of Ebola in Liberia and Sierra Leone where the neighboring countries such as Gambia, Nigeria and Ghana were affected as a result of travelling of affected passengers between the countries.
In addition, globalization has been named as a contributing factor to cultural erosion of various countries with the change in culture towards destructive cultures. For instance, the youths in developing countries have been affected by culture of those in developed countries as a result of globalization of the culture from western countries. This has contributed into an impact on their level of discipline and personality during adulthood. Furthermore, in the process of globalization, corporations are able to set up industries in developing countries which result into pressure on the local governments of the developing countries. This can contribute to destabilization of government as a result of introduction of foreign policies or ideas during the operation of the corporations (Eriksen 64). Finally, the process of globalization can contribute to unemployment in developed countries as corporations try to find locations where cheap labor is available such as developing countries. This is because; the process of moving these industries from developed countries is to escape from high remuneration demands from residents of developed countries.

This source is a book that highlights how globalization has affected us in many different ways, and how in the American movie culture man and women are portrayed differently for example men are the independent gender and the women are the dependent gender, and the tension between the dependence and independence.

Globalization is the process of denationalization of markets, politics and legal systems, this effects human welfare and the economy of the place you are living in. this book talks about the positive and negative affects on globalization on a culture. This would be a good book to get sources from since most of the information I have found is broad and not very detailed so I can relate it to many subjects that I might be writing about.
