I began my journey toward a degree in Operations Management in 2020 and have since taken a few Project Management courses at SNHU. These courses taught me the fundamentals of project management while also delving deeper into the details that can make or break a project. At my current job, I’ve had the opportunity to lead a few smaller-scale projects. One of the most recent projects I assisted in managing was one in which we had to rearrange the production floor to make it more efficient. The 5S methodology was the primary project management technique we used. “Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain are the five steps in the 5S methodology for creating a more organized and productive workspace. 5S lays the groundwork for implementing more advanced lean production tools and processes.” (Using 5S, 2021). We are in the business of building robots, but we were a small start-up at the time with few manufacturing techniques that allowed us to be efficient. We were making a lot of robots, but they were in a chaotic environment. I was able to assist in the implementation of the 5S methodologies to each building operation, which increased the efficiency of each build. Each station now had every tool required to build the specific sub assembly, and each tool was labeled and had a visible home where it returned after use. This simple organization of tools and processes not only made our production floor more efficient and quick, but it also made the floor safer.
In order to create a viable project plan for my capstone project, I intend to create a detailed risk management plan.”
A risk management plan is a process that lays out the procedure for risk management execution.
A risk management plan specifies how the risk management process for your project will be carried out. This includes the funds, tools, and approaches to be used for risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring.” Scavaetta (2021).
