Another advantage of cloud computing is that it enables the organization to control data by centralizing all the data from various departments and sources to a single location, eliminating the need to visiting each data source location. Cloud offers regular and continuous data backup and recovery services, ensuring the business cannot lose data.
However, cloud computing has various disadvantages that should be noted by the organization. They include the requirement of a good speed internet connection with good bandwidth to enable the automatic file uploads and downloads (Gupta, 2016). Another problem that comes with cloud computing is data security, which concerns both the business and customers considering the sophisticated cyber vectors that exist today. Cloud computing involves processes that offer the organization with on-demand computer services, including data storage and processing power over the internet. Various sections in the organization structure and operations cloud computing can fit. They include in cloud office suites, such as Google Apps for Work, Microsoft Office 365, and Zoho Docs (Kiryakova et al., 2015). The organization will also use cloud storage services, such as OneDrive and Google Drive. Cloud business information systems will be utilized in organization departments to provide necessary information to support decision-making.
How do companies that enter cloud technology agreements pass on those issues to their customers?
Cloud technology providers can pass issues to their customers. For instance, the companies that enter cloud technology agreements and offer a cloud technology that losses data or is hacked, the customer, in this case, Auburn Regional, is left to deal with the issue, despite the cloud provider Company being responsible.
How do these companies really know where their data and the data of their customers is really stored?
Typically, cloud-based data is stored on servers, usually owned by big companies. However, when a company is migrating to cloud computing, they are offered a cloud technology agreement. The Cloud technology agreement includes details regarding the data storage location, security, ownership, redundancy, conversion, and use rights.
What precautions are being taken?
The precautions being taken include being familiar with the data storage location to retrieve the data in case a disaster or the shutdown of the cloud provider. The organization will make copies of the data by taking snapshots and storing them in a different secured location. The other precaution being taken concerns the cloud provider selection process. The cloud provider must be reputable and trustworthy. The company will contract an ethical hacker to test the cloud provider’s security and immense downtime.
