When it comes to server’s storage capabilities for the OS itself, I would choose to implement storage, access, security and the management of digital data, files and services capabilities. I would also use it to access small to big amounts of data over a network that is shared or via the internet. It may make the drive 500 gigabytes for a computer; for a network server, the drive would be 1-4 terabytes. This is dependent on the size of the computer. For instance, a computer that has a 500GB hard drive would have a storage capacity of 500GB as aforementioned. One of the technical specifications I would consider is size. This is because it would determine the amount of storage that the server can handle. When it comes to brand, I would consider the company that made the server. This is because different companies provide different configurations.
There are important lessons I learned about RAID. RAID is an abbreviation that stands for Redundant Array of Independent Drives, and is a technology utilized to augment the performance and/or reliability of storage of data. As such, it makes it possible to store data across numerous hard drives. The goal of RAID is to attain data redundancy to decrease the loss of data and, in a lot of cases, enhance performance. One of the key points to consider when it comes to RAID is application performance needs. It is important to select a RAID level that matches the workload (Paulsen, 2012). Another consideration is capacity needs. If capacity is the primary driver, that will impact the choice of RAID. Considering cost is key as well. Performance and capacity costs money-attaining the needed balance between cost and performance is thus vital.
