All students can contribute to the creation of a diverse and inclusive environment when diversity is defined broadly. As an Asian American U.S. Army Veteran who grew up in California, I believe that I have a unique perspective to contribute to the diversity of the California State University, Fullerton School of Nursing and the nursing profession.
As an Asian American, I bring with me a rich cultural heritage that has shaped my values and worldview. Growing up in a multicultural community, I have learned to appreciate and respect the diversity of people and their differences. This has given me the ability to understand and relate to patients from different cultural backgrounds, which is an important quality for a nurse to have.
As a U.S. Army Veteran, I have had the opportunity to serve and care for people from all walks of life. I have learned to adapt to different environments and work with people from different cultural backgrounds and nationalities. This has given me the skills and resilience to handle the challenges that may come with being a nurse.
Moreover, my experiences growing up in California have exposed me to a diverse range of people and communities. I have had the opportunity to learn about and understand the unique needs and challenges faced by different groups of people. This has prepared me to be sensitive to the needs of my patients and to provide care that is culturally sensitive and respectful.
I believe that my background as an Asian American U.S. Army Veteran who grew up in California has given me a unique perspective that will contribute to the diversity of the California State University, Fullerton School of Nursing and the nursing profession. I am committed to using my experiences and skills to provide culturally sensitive and respectful care to all of my patients, regardless of their background.
