The graphs you chose to present should show a clear result that you will discuss in your conclusion section.
You are then required to describe what you can conclude from these results in the conclusion section using the two scientific sources provided in the ‘Essential Reading’ section below to back up your analysis.

The Cell Motility: Results and Conclusions assessment should have 3 sections: Results, Conclusion and References Results section: No word or graph limit.
• For this section you should present the graphs you have created From all the class data (not just one lab day’s data) and include descriptive Figure legends. • These graphs should illustrate the impact the 3 individual toxins have on the Paramecium compared to the control data. • You select the most appropriate graph style to present your data • Calculate the standard deviation and use this as your error bars. IF excel automatically includes both vertical and horizontal error bars, delete the horizontal ones and check that the vertical error bars are correct For each respective mean.
Conclusion section: Maximum word limit of 500 words and should include the 2 references for the papers provided to you in the essential reading section below. The reference section is the only section not included in the word limit. (i.e. everything else does count towards the word count).
• Toxin A is tar (extracted From cigarette smoke), Toxin B is an antibiotic (erythromycin) and Toxin C is an unknown compound. • The two papers available below will allow you to explain and discuss your results. There is a lot of detail presented in each paper so make sure to focus on the specific detail discussing cilia motility when writing your own conclusion. • Use the information on Toxin A and B to discuss Toxin C. You should not identify Toxin C, simply discuss its effects as shown in your results and compare if this is similar to the effects of Toxins A and B.
