Contract Writing: Major Baseball League Standard Player Form

The following agreement places a responsibility on you the player/ promisee to deliberate to the flowing terms and benefits. It is important that you, as the “promisee/player” to obtain independent and reasonable legal advisors, who will work to allow you to understand the terms and conditions.
Club X will only approve the contract if they are submitted and written on the available provided standard agreement format. Copies of the standard agreement will be provided to all the necessary parties central to the MLB 2020 event, for further deliberations and Club X will also provide one copy to the player.
The agreement needs to be approved by the player and remitted back to the club in 12 days, failure to remittance, the agreement will be termed “Null and Void.” Both the promisor and the promisee will be released from the mutual obligation outlined in the agreement below
1. Parties to the Agreement
This is an agreement between Club X, a member of the Major League Baseball club and you the player.
2. Terms of Agreement
Club X, under these formal terms of the agreement, seeks to retain the services of you the player for three (3) years. The agreement goes into effects from 23rd October 2020 and ends on 23rd October 2023. By agreeing to this terms, you the player will be designated as an employee of Club X, responsible for participating in all regular seasons games, postseason, all-star and or exhibition games relative to Club X requirements.
3. Duties the Player Intends to Fulfill
The player is required to attend all press conferences, cooperate with the press and participate in press releases issued by the club. This standard player contract additionally compels you the player to be present for club events, dinners and reception balls for private ticket owners and during major club events which include promotional events, and nonprofit fundraisers. You the player agrees to give exclusive services, which are also offered to the best of your abilities to Club X. You the player agree to use of the Club training camps and facilities all in good condition, devote your energy and time to playing baseball and bettering your baseball skills, behave well at all times. Cooperate and participate in all activities central to the club with teammates.
4. Duties the Club Intends to Fulfill
Club X shall provide adequate payment to the player and provide the player with benefits necessary for the player to improve their baseball playing ability. The club will offer the player an ample room for training, resting, food, and other incentives and benefit necessary for the growth and development of their athletic abilities. The club will always seek to provide consent for the player to participate in any baseball-related activities outside club events. The club will also provide the player with security, equipment and kits for all baseball-related activities central to the club.
5. Licensing and publicity
You the player at this moment need to provide a license to the club, and your team for the use of your name, image, signature, bibliographical information and likeness for the benefit of the club and the club’s an advertising and promotion in the duration of your contract. This authorizes any third party entity in business or association with Club X to utilize the image, name and likeness to promotion and advertising. This applies even after the contract ends. Payment will be made pending license provision, and it will be included in the player’s salary compensation. You the player should recognize that all the rights to pictures, images, signatures, the likeness will be the sole property of the club. The club (and its associates) and the MBL will be the sole distributor and owner of these assets as they see fit.
6. Medical and Physical Requirements
You the player will be required to deliver an authentic copy of your medical records to the club at the club’s request. The club maintains discretion as to the period it will require medical tests of any if they deem the test necessary to the player’s abilities. The player shall also be required to provide a medical certificate of a full medical examination to the club at the start of every season. All these certificates should come from a licensed medical doctor chosen by the club.
The player will be subjected to physical test by club commissioned physician if the player is deemed unable to perform his athletic activities. If this happens at the onset of the season, the club is free to suspend the contract within the duration in which the player is considered unfit.
If the player is injured during club activities, a club selected physician will conduct a test. If evaluated in the affirmative, the player will be offered payment for the injury and duration of the contract or injury. The player also releases the club from any future obligation and liability in the event of such an accident or injury.
7. Club Rules
The player understands that they have unique skills and ability and also within the limelight. The player should understand that he actively represents the club and his team in his position. The player should also maintain peak fitness and conduct regular schedule fitness training and regiments. The player is also liable to follow the nutrition advice provided by the club. As such the player is required to respect fellow players, avoid fights and other forms of unnecessary conflict with the club or former teammates. The player is discouraged from engaging in activities which are risky or injurious to them such as excessive drinking of alcohol, smoking, drunk driving, among others. If found to be in violations of the above terms, the club under its discretion will choose the next cause of action which range from suspension, fines and termination.
8. Compensation and Bonuses
The maximum salary for the player is 15% of the team’s salary cap in the year that the agreement was signed. This will apply and reference the year 23rd October 2020 as the year the contract was signed. The player will be compensated twice a month on the 15th and 30th of the month during the regular sports season. Payment will not be conferred for the rest of the year but only during special events. The player and the recommendation of his legal and financial team can have their salary divided into twelve equal parts and paid bi-weekly for the rest of the year. Their salary is liable for tax, insurance and other essential and legal deductions. The club will pay for most of the player accommodation and club activities during official club functions.
9. Termination of Contract by Player
In the event, the club defaults on paying the players, the player will by notice of written document issue their termination to the club and the MBL. All other obligation will cease apart from the need for the club to compensate the player for the damage done.
10. Termination of Contract by Club
The club can terminate the agreement if the player does not fulfil the following actions;
• If they refuse to obey the club rules.
• If they fail to agree to participate in the club functions.
• If the player fails to skillfully work to the benefit of the club.
