In this assignment, you are required to:
1. identify any investment in subsidiaries, investment in associates, and joint arrangements,
and state any related parties’ disclosure in the real-life case, if any;
2. discuss the types of accounting treatment and measurement relating to investment in
subsidiaries, investment in associates and joint arrangements based on the Hong Kong
Financial Reporting Standards (HKFRS) and Hong Kong Accounting Standards (HKAS);
3. summarise the accounting policy, the accounting treatment, and the accounting
measurement of investment in subsidiaries, investment in associates, and joint
arrangements in the real-life case, if any;
4. state your professional judgment as to whether the case’s accounting treatments and the
accounting measurement of investment in subsidiaries, investment in associates, and
joint arrangements, if any, comply with the relevant Hong Kong Financial Reporting
Standards (HKFRS) and Hong Kong Accounting Standards (HKAS); and
5. advise management about the appropriate form of investments, with related accounting
treatments among the choice of investing in the subsidiary, associate, or joint
arrangement under your individual assumption, if the case company mentioned above is
planning to build a new composite building with both residential and commercial
components in the near future in Hong Kong.
