Paper 2 Instructions
• For this assignment, you are to put two course texts in dialogue with one another. How does an idea, a passage, a theme, etc. from one text relate to an idea, a passage, a theme, etc. from another text? Given their points of connection or disconnection, what argument can you make?
• One text must be something we read after Paper 1 (Woolf, Smith, or Murakami). The second text may be something we read either before or after Paper 1.
• As with Paper 1, this is an argumentative, analytical essay. You should present a thesis statement at the end of your introduction, and in the body of your essay, you should analyze your sources, showing how your analysis helps prove your thesis.
• Do not recycle any ideas from Paper 1. This should be an entirely new paper.
• Note that, contrary to what the syllabus says, you do not need to engage a secondary source.
• 750 words; MLA format
• Peer review due Mon. 4/4. Email your full draft to your reviewer by 9:15a.m. Have your review of your peer’s work posted on Blackboard by 2p.m. Make sure you offer criticism and not just praise in your evaluation.
• Final paper due hardcopy, in class, on Wed. 4/6.
