DQ 1) Many doctorate students make the error of thinking that a viable research project can be formed based on personal experience or an attempt to solve a personal problem. Although enthusiasm for the project is vital in the discovery process, a dissertation topic must ultimately originate from issue spaces found in empirical research literature. What makes you believe this is the case? How can relying on literature fulfill a researcher’s and a research project’s needs?

DQ 2) Look at the discussion of the problem space in Chapter 2 of the GCU dissertation template and think about the dimensions of the problem you want to look into. Give your topic a one-sentence synopsis. Then talk about how the situation has already been looked into. Next, look into what hasn’t been looked into about the specific subject you’d like to discuss. Finally, explain why this is an important subject that needs to be explored or better understood, or why researching this specific problem is beneficial.
