The case study involves specific considerations about the socio-economic issues affecting the patient. The Asian male is physically as well as financially dependent on his daughter who has little time or finances to take care of his health. He has limited resources to fund his healthcare services. The cultural factors indicate that the father feels uncomfortable bothering the daughter for his medical care expenses. The Asian culture may also have some spiritual beliefs that may affect his perception of his health condition and treatment (Kerem & Cohen-Cymberknoh, 2016).
The issues I will be sensitive to when addressing the patient include the language barrier. I will confirm if the patient is comfortable communicating in English or whether we should find a translator. I will also be cautious about the age of the patient by handling him with care, and honesty to earn his trust (Coats, Downey, Sharma, Curtis & Engelberg, 2018). I will also ask or research about the Asian cultures and beliefs that may affect the quality of medication. A preferred treatment procedure during the examination may also be preferred. I will thus confirm from the patient about their preferences to avoid mishandling them. The considerations are important to allow the patient to find a friendly environment where they can express themselves (Sung & Park 2019). The care will be meant to earn the trust of the patient. It will also be essential to customize the treatment to the beliefs of a patient to avoid forcing anything on them against their belief systems.
The questions I would ask the patient include;
1. How has been your journey dealing with hypertension?
2. For how long have you been battling with your various conditions?
3. Is your health condition improving from your personal assessment?
4. Do you have any other medical history?
5. What is your family history with similar or different diseases?
