1.When I think about portfolios, I consider how I want to present myself to potential employers and make a good impression. Despite the fact that I have been an LVN for the past three and a half years, I frequently consider what I can contribute as a new RN. In my portfolio, the most important topic that comes to mind is a great resume and cover letter. A summary stands out and allows the employer to track your progress at work. Explain your role, the time you spent there, the skills you learned, and why you left your job.
The length of time you stay on the job is important because it demonstrates that you were there for a period of time and that you were dedicated to the task at hand. Employers value skills because they see you as knowledgeable about your acquired talent. Because of the number of miles a person is willing to or has traveled, location is another topic for a portfolio. Attendance is taken into account when interviewing for a job, and an interviewer may inquire about the number of times a person has been late in the previous year. Before interviewing with a hospital or facility, get to know the company and do some background research. The employer finds this very interesting because you researched the company and why you want to work for them. And becoming an important part of the team. What will be beneficial to the company, and do they see you staying with them for a long time?
A cover letter should summarize who you are, how long you’ve been a nurse or graduate nurse, what skills you bring to the company, and what you will bring to the company. Education and certifications are also important components of the portfolio because when a person completes their education, companies look favorably on certain schools based on their past reputation and the certifications a student obtained along their nursing journey. I took a ventilator certification class in nursing school in California. After finishing the program, I pursued two more IV and wound care certifications while waiting for my ATT letter. I wanted to prepare for a job after passing my Nclex. Even as a new RN graduate, I believe it is important to be distinguishable; an employer will notice your determination, willingness, proactivity, and passion; coming in as a new nurse and providing clinical skills demonstrates that you are ready for the real world.

2.A professional portfolio is a collection of carefully selected material that documents the nurses’ competencies, according to (www.pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nlm.nih.gov). It demonstrates the nurse’s expertise. Portfolios are built over time and serve as a way to track a nurse’s professional development. A well-developed portfolio that provides a chronological and visual representation of a nurse’s professional development. To build a portfolio, I understand how important it is to keep an accurate and up-to-date record of my journey.
When I start working on my portfolio, I realize that it summarizes my education, licensure, and employment history. My portfolio will be simple to build at first because my healthcare career has been marked by smooth transitions and job longevity. My education, license, specialty certificates, and cards with expiration dates will be used to build my portfolio. I will include any letters of recommendation and professional awards that I have received. My preferred portfolio format would be electronic. In this day and age, electronic portfolios are simple to access. In addition, by using an electronic portfolio, I will be able to keep up with future technology. It might be a smoother transition if and when I need to update it. I can keep my professional portfolio updated to reflect the growth of my knowledge and skills over time. I can also demonstrate competencies that will allow me to market myself when I apply for various career ladder positions or new job opportunities. The benefits and significance of professional nursing portfolios is to provide enough information about myself. This includes having the best understanding of the scope of practice, education, and evaluations of myself.
