This is an abstract of research of 5-6 articles for Sigma Nursing Society. My topic is as follows: In patients with chronic back pain, are complementary alternative therapies as effective as opiate medications in decreasing back pain. All the articles need to be research articles related to this topic only. I have attached the rubric to outline the expectations for the abstract. My Topic:
Outpatient scheduling workflow for outpatient cardiology procedures for my department. I have reviewed the rubric and feel that I will be able to meet all areas of the rubric. Currently the workflow has had some frustrations with some miscommunication with patients and I feel that instead of scheduling a patient for a time as the orders come we have a CNA or scheduler call and set up a day and that a preop nurse will call a day or two before their procedure to go over the preop questions and set up a more specific time,My department’s outpatient scheduling workflow for cardiology procedures done away from the hospital. I’ve looked over the rubric and think I can meet all of its requirements. Miscommunication with patients has caused some problems with the current workflow, and I think that instead of scheduling a patient for a time as the orders come in, we should have a CNA or scheduler call and set up a day, and then a preop nurse will call a day or two before the procedure to go over the preop questions and set up a more specific time. as well as what to expect for the day. Right now patients are confused because we often call the day before and change the time they were first given and they are not given specific instructions on what to expect. I would like this to be a more streamlined process.
