Major Project 1 students wrote a Learning Goals Inventory. Now is the time to take the next step and write a Learning Assessment Technique table for that course AS IT SHOULD BE, not necessarily as it is currently. Note that there are several examples, including Appendix 3 of the textbook.
Once you have completed the LAT table write a brief essay comparing how the course is currently assessed as opposed to how it should be assessed (based on the LAT table you created). Be sure to identify areas where there seems to be a disconnect between the course objectives and the currently assessments, and contrast that to how you are proposing to assess the course (your LAT table

This is what I submitted for “Project 1”
Upon review of the directions for this objective I completed a Learning Goals Inventory (LGI) and my results and opinions are as follows.
Introduction to Business Analytics SCMS 7110 is a required course in the University of Memphis MBA program. I took this course in 2020 online. It is designed to provide basic knowledge and skills for model and data assisted decisions making based on hands on experience with relevant tools and technologies adopted from the areas of descriptive analytics, predictive analytics and prescriptive analytics”.
Cognitive Dimension:
The syllabus suggests that the objectives are to develop knowledge for business analytics, which it did provide. The syllabus suggests that the course will enhance understanding of tools and skills required in real-world decision making and dis so using a live company stimulation where the students can adjust and “tinker” with for business decisions and actions for the company. Scoring moderately high, the building foundational knowledge objectives were met very quickly for this course. In fact, all three areas of the Cognitive Dimension were rated moderately high in the LGI I prepared. This suggests that the course does provide the necessary design to mee the objectives to build on foundational knowledge, application of knowledge, and integration of knowledge of the LGI. As stated above, each area of the cognitive dimension in this course were found to be very similar. Furthermore, according to the syllabus the focus is on developing knowledge, building skills, technologies, and improving critical thinking. All these areas, with some improvement available, were realistic for meeting the objective.
Humanistic Dimension
The syllabus for SCMS 7110 suggests that this course has less objectives and focus on the humanistic dimension and proved to be so according to the LGI I prepared. Consisting of the human dimension, caring, and learning how to learn, the humanistic dimension doesn’t score as high on the LGI. The reasoning could be that the course is more focused on analytics and thought provoking and reactionary performance rather than compassion, enthusiasm, or fondness for humanistic traits. Scoring “Low” in the interpersonal skills, respect, self-confidence, and emotional well-being items speaks to the course objectives not being focused on these issues. Suggesting that maybe the professor should revisit this issue and see if he could develop concepts and goals to implement objectives that would better prepare the student in these areas. However, it was discovered that there was a Moderately high score in both Human dimension and Caring. Although the course objectives were not focused on these areas the course itself did provide several opportunities to interact with my peers. Make decisions based on gut feelings and experience. The course was also flexible enough to share thoughts and ask questions of my peers to ensure we agreed before making critical decisions for our simulation. I might suggest that he add a focus in the course objectives that includes the topics of human dimension, caring, and learning how to learn only to cover the areas should the course get off tract or there are unexpected tech errors in the simulation.
The course provides both Cognitive and Humanistic dimension concepts and although the course objectives did not spell out human dimension concepts, overall, the course provided a great base for knowledge and learning. If rating the course on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the best) I’d rate the course a 3 personally because I’m not as technically as others and I would have liked to have a more “real life” experience and opportunity rather than the simulator.
